School Rules and Regulations

The enrolment of a student at St. Scholastica’s Academy, Marikina is considered an expression on her part and that of her parents of their willingness to abide by all policies and regulations of the school.  SSAM cannot keep a student who shows by her conduct that she has no intention of abiding by any or all of the school regulations. 

1.       SCHOOL UNIFORM 

Students represent St. Scholastica’s Academy, Marikina in a special way when they are in school uniform.  All students should wear the prescribed daily uniform which consists of:  

a.    The blouse

·    White with RUFFLES (NOT PLEATS) along the collar and sleeves

·    It has a STRING SEWN at the back of the blouse which is to be tied snugly around the waist to hold the blouse in place so as to keep sides tucked neatly into the skirt waistband and NOT HANGING OUT LOOSELY. 

b.    The jumper skirt

·    Dark navy blue

·    The straps should fit well on the torso.

Þ   How to test if the strap is loose:  Take each strap at the point of shoulders and pull up.  If the strap comes up by more than 1 inch over the shoulders, then it is too loose.

·    Grade badge is sewn onto the left strap and must be visible below the left collar (2 fingers above the chest strap.

·    Chest strap must have 3 white buttons on each side.

·    The waist band of the skirt should not be loose an should be at the waistline and not at the hipline.

·    Skirt line should be hanging well with nothing heavy in the pocket to cause the skirt line to lose its symmetry.

·    The hemline should be no more or less than 2 inches after the kneecap (from the lowest point of the knee. 

c.    Socks

·    Plain white socks with no logos, ruffles/laces or embroidery designs of any kind.

·    Socks should be 1 ½ inches from the ankle.

·    The following socks are not allowed – SPORTS SOCKS, TUBE SOCKS, AND KNEE-HIGHS. 

d.    Shoes

·    Closed low heeled (not more than 1 inch high), plain and black (including heels and thread) shoes.

·    The following are not allowed – shoes with large buckles, suede shoes, unbuckled and bulldog shoes. 

P.E. UNIFORM 

·    The P.E. uniform consists of a white T-shirt, royal blue jogging pants with school seal and plain white simple rubber shoes.  This may also be used as “EMERGENCY ATTIRE” as needed (Preventive measure against Dengue Fever)

·    Prep to Grade 6 students may come to school wearing rubber shoes only during their scheduled P.E. day. 

SCHOOL I.D. 

·    The school ID is considered part of the daily school uniform and, therefore, students are required to wear their identification cards for as long as they are within school premises.

·    The ID is worn with the official school ID lace and ID protector; and should be kept free of stickers, nor-regulation pins or clips.

·    If a student forgets her ID, she must secure immediately an admission slip from the Office of the Student Formation Coordinator in order to be admitted to her class.

·    For lost ID the student must submit a letter written by the parent requesting for a new ID and stating the reason of loss.  This letter is submitted to the Class Adviser and forward it to the SFC office.  The student fills up an ID application form for approval.  Payment is made in the Business Office. Both the form and receipt of payment are submitted to the I.T. Office which immediately issues the new ID to the student.

·    Students who are caught using the ID of another student or their own ID when they were in a different grade level will be meted the appropriate sanction. 

On occasions when students are allowed casual wear, these have to be simple, modest and appropriate for the occasion.  

Wearing of shorts and sleeveless attire is not allowed. 

2.       Grooming  

Students are expected to come to school clean and well-groomed.  Hairstyle should be simple; hair color/highlighting is not allowed.  Scholasticans must not sport a boy’s haircut or any unusual hairstyle.  Fingernails must be trimmed, clean and without nail polish.  

Jewelry, big and colorful headbands, ribbons, pins, broaches and other accessories are not to be worn in school. However, simple earrings and wrist-watches are allowed. Hair accessories should be simple and black only.
