General Objectives

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE GRADE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT 

The Grade School aims to graduate students who: 

1.    have acquired basic knowledge, skills habits and attitudes to meet the challenges of secondary education. 

2.   can apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired and the habits and attitudes they have developed to their everyday life. 

3.   have formed traits essential to community living at home,    in the school, in the parish and in the larger community in which they find themselves. Such traits include concern for others, self-sacrifice, discipline, assertiveness, alertness, initiative, creativity and resourcefulness, industry, reliability and integrity. 

4.   demonstrate genuine  love of country and responsible citizenship by cherishing their Filipino cultural heritage and taking an active part in nation building. 

5.   show concern and work for peace and the preservation of the integrity of creation from the micro to the macro level.

6.    give witness to the Gospel and Benedictine values and attitudes and help transform the world into a better and happier place for all God’s children. 

Towards these objectives the Grade School Unit strives to: 

*      provide a wholesome learning environment for the well rounded development of its students;  

*      develop their ability to think critically and work accurately so that truth may guide their response to changing societal needs and conditions;  

*  assist their development in Christian faith, Benedictine values and attitudes, strengthened by personal and group prayers and the frequent reception of the sacraments;  

*       develop their ability to organize liturgical  celebrations and prayer assemblies;  

*      provide opportunities for dialogue and sharing of ideas and resources with different sectors of society, particularly the poor, in the spirit of community;  

*     equip each child with the skills and attitudes needed to solve conflict situations creatively for peaceful and harmonious living;

 *   awaken interest in the religious life and missions through prayers, sacrifices and contact with priests and sisters, religious and lay missionaries;

*    provide opportunities to exercise social awareness, critical-mindedness and free expression of ideas, emotions and observations based on truth and justice regarding issues affecting them, their family, country and to a larger extent, the world;

 * maximize opportunities for the development of social responsibility and social commitment.
