LOVE BLOOMS ON TEACHERS DAY
By  Raeven Davis, Chalina Pilapil and Cristhia Salvador

January could be the new February at SSAM as flowers laced with sweet notes and pretty ribbons abound every classrom waiting for the deserving persons to hold it dear. Sweet chocolates and candies wrapped in fancy   papers have become popular gifts, too. And all the sweeetest and cheesiest words you can ever think of and freely say only happen during Teachers Day.
Truly, love blooms on Teachers Day.
Last January 18, the SICC walls seemed to have been painted red, the color of love and happiness.
Surprises must not be missed on this special occasion for the students, through the help of the Student Council Officers, prepared song and dance numbers capturing on the theme, “ Teachers: Candles, They Consume Themselves to Give Light to Others”.
A candle sacrifices itself just to provide heat and light to the people. In the same way, a teacher has so many sacrifices just to be able to provide assistance, love and knowledge to the students.  Just as how the candle gives the light to others, the teachers’ sacrifices and patience only pay off when we succeed in our career. Indeed, we we need teachers in our lives.
After a two-hour free aerobic dance lessons with the invited dance instructors, and sumptuous snacks, the high school teachers were requested to come together as they headed the SICC where students await them.
The performers, also known as the 5K Girls, paraded their atache cases bearing the year level for the opening number.  The program, which was patterned from the defunct game show ‘Deal or No Deal’ and popular noontime variety show ‘Showtime’, was a hit among the teenagers. Each atache case has a number containing the year level.  The atache case would determine the order of performance.
The freshmen made a short clip expressing their  sincere gratitude to their teachers before rendering a dance number. The sophomores surprised their teachers with what seems to be an interpretative dance; the seniors, who called themselves the “Feeling Dance Club Crew,” offered a comical song and dance number; and the juniors gifted their teachers a mini musical concert. The students raised their scoreboards after every performance.
Emcees Michelle Miranda and Charleen Cruz called out the teachers according to subject area to receive their     special gifts and for photo opportunity.
The teachers were very thankful for the special attention they received from their students.
Also present in the affair were Directress Sr. Roseve Balagat, OSB, High School Principal Mrs. Amelia De Vera, Academic Coordinator Mrs. Maria Concepcion De Dios,  Student Formation Coordinator Ms. Anunciacion Gabor and Student Activities Coordinator Mrs. Jill Ann Dayag.
