STUDENT-MADE PRODUCTS SOLD LIKE HOTCAKES
By Knriscielle Yalao

To sustain the feeding program of the preschool children and improve the Day Care Center of SSAM’s adopted communities in Marikina, the Technology and Livelihood Area opened its “Tiangge Sale” last December 9, 2011. This event is part of the TLE Week focusing on the theme, “Kulasa Singkwenta Na: Bili Mo, Tulong Mo”.
The products, which were all made by the high school students for their project in TLE, were sold at the cheapest price to the invited housewives and mothers of the adopted communities, service personnel and other members of the Benedictine community.
The Technology and Livelihood Area coordinator Mrs. Edita Fitero said that the total sales of the products reached 18,150 pesos to be donated to the recipients of the Tuason Community Center Foundation, Inc.
To recall, the TLE Area is actively involved in the social involvement program of the school through its outreach activities and livelihood trainings.
Thirty mothers from the adopted communities were also invited to attend a cooking demonstration, and were also given some techniques to start a small food business.
Other activities observed during the TLE Week were the different contests such as sewing, table skirting, photoshop and java programming participated in by the high school students.
TLE teachers Mrs. Evangeline Cabantac, Ms. Charisse Gueco, Mr. Arman Odevilas and Ms. Eva Jaravata also spearheaded the activities.
