Part of one's student life is the experience of joining contests and winning them. Despite the odds of online distance learning, a young Scholastican pursued her passion and got rewaded.
Gianna Erin Camaya, a grade 3 student, joined the KooBits Young Entrepreneur Challenge 2020 last December 2020. She bagged the 2nd Place for the Content Creation Category and 3rd Place for the Marketing Category and Honorable Mention for the Product Design Category.
The KooBits Young Entrepreneur Challenge is designed to expose children to real-world projects and help them learn creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
These skills help children develop a mindset for 21st century careers – whether they grow up to become an entrepreneur, or work at exciting companies such as Facebook, Netflix or Disney.
Gianna has been joining contests even when classes were still held in physical classrooms. She likes doing that to try her knowledge and test her skills. Also, she likes the feeling of making her mother proud of and happy for her every time she wins in contests. She plans to join more in the future. She is thankful that she has supportive parents who has always been there in every endeavor she takes. One life lesson she shared which she had learned from joining contests is that one will eventually get better at doing something even if it is very difficult from the start as long as you keep trying on it.
Gianna also joined other international contests. Last November 2020, she participated in the online contest called Crest Olympiads in India. She was also a consistent participant of International Singapore Maths Competition (ISMC), Asia International Math Olympiad (AIMO), and International Kangaroo Math Competition (IKMC).
