Admission of New Students

ST. SCHOLASTICA'S ACADEMY MARIKINA admits students who are Catholics and whose academic records indicate ability to do quality schoolwork and possess character traits that give promise to be active participants in the Scholastican Community. Thus, the Committee on Admission deliberate on the academic requirements presented, result of written examinations given by the Student Development Center and the interview with the Principal and/or Academic Coordinator (for high school applicants), Kindergarten Teacher (for Nursery applicants) and Life Mentor (for the grade school applicants).

All students seeking admission, whether coming from sister schools or others and/or returning as former students who have enrolled elsewhere during the school year, are required to take the Entrance Test – ORAL and WRITTEN. Successful applicants are admitted on a FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED basis.

Entrance examinations for school year 2020-2021 are waived due to COVID 19 outbreak. The admissions committee reviewed each applicant based on the presented academic requirements.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Nursery/Kindergarten

NURSERY

A. Four (4) years old by September 30
     For SY 2020-2021: Four (4) years old by October 31
B. Must undergo the assessment interview
C. Must submit the following documents:
      PSA Birth Certificate (original and photocopy)
      Catholic Baptismal Certificate (original and photocopy)
      Three (3) pieces of recent 2" x 2" colored ID picture with complete nametag

KINDERGARTEN

A. Five (5) years old by September 30
For SY 2020-2021: Five (5) years old by October 31
B. Must pass the interview and written examination
C. Must have one (1) year formal schooling
D. Must submit the following documents:

      Catholic Baptismal Certificate (original and photocopy)
      Certified true copy of latest progress report (first quarter assessment)
      Three (3) pieces of recent 2" x 2" colored ID picture with complete nametag

Grade 1

A. Six (6) years old by September 30
For SY 2020-2021: Six (6) years old by October 31
B. Must pass the interview and written examination
C. Must have completed the Kindergarten curriculum
D. Must submit the following documents:

     Catholic Baptismal Certificate
     Certified true copy of latest progress report (Form 138) with FIRST QUARTER ASSESSMENT or
         beginning of the school year ECCD Checklist/Assessment
     Three (3) pieces of recent 2" x 2" colored ID picture with complete nametag

Grades 2-6

A. Must pass the interview and written examination
B. Must submit the following documents:
      PSA Birth Certificate
      Catholic Baptismal Certificate
      Latest report card (Form 138/SF9) with first quarter grades
        - Academic Average of 82%
         - A conduct grade of B+ or 85%
        - No failing grade in any subject, and in any quarter
        - Numerical equivalent of letter grades
     Three (3) pieces of recent 2" x 2" colored ID picture with complete nametags
     Certificate of Good Moral Character (sealed in an envelope with signature across the flap)

Grades 7-10

Grades 11-12

A. Must pass the interview and written examination
B. Must submit the following documents:
     PSA Birth Certificate
     Catholic Baptismal Certificate
     Certified true copy of Grade 9 report card (for incoming Grade 11 only)
     Certified true copy of latest report card (Form 138) with first quarter grades
        - A conduct grade of B+ or 85%
        - No failing grade in any subject, and in any quarter
        - Numerical equivalent of letter grades
     Copy of the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) results
     Three (3) pieces of recent 2" x 2" colored ID picture with complete nametags
     Certificate of Good Moral Character (sealed in an envelope with signature across the flap)

Requirements for government subsidy (SHS Voucher Program)

     For Private School Grade 10 ESC Completer: ESC Certificate with ESC School ID and ESC Student ID
     For Grade 10 Completer from Public School or State/Local Universities/Colleges: Certificate of Completion with LRN
     For Voucher Applicant: QVA Certificate

REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN APPLICANTS AND STUDENTS WITH DUAL CITIZENSHIP

1. Authenticated academic records
2. English translation of documents
3. Passport
    (with stamps of latest departure and arrival in the country and current VISA page of both students and parents)
4. Alien Certificate of Registration from the Bureau of Immigration
5. Documents for the issuance of Special Study Permit (SSP)

If with DUAL CITIZENSHIP: Photocopy of Philippine Passport and Foreign Passport (biopage)
If RECOGNIZED FILIPINO CITIZEN: Certificate of Recognition as a Filipino Citizen and Photocopy of Philippine Passport (biopage)

Nationality will be based on applicant's documents presented at the time of the application.
The applicant is also expected to speak and understand English and Filipino.

ADMISSION SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday 7:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.      Saturday 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.      Application Fee: PHP 400

Kindergarten test results are indicated as QUALIFIED, NOT QUALIFIED or CONDITIONAL STATUS in accordance with the norms of SSAM. These are given to parents/guardians a week after the examination. Test papers are not given out to parents. Additional test may be scheduled by the Committee on Admissions as the need arises.
